Este estudio analiza las diferencias existentes entre el estilo de crianza de padres y madres y su relación con el sexo de los hijos. En una muestra de 298 familias de niños (166 niños y 132 niñas) entre 3 y 14 años. El estilo parental se midió mediante el Parent Child Relalionship lnventory (PCRI) compuesto por siete factores que son: apoyo, satisfacción con la crianza. compromiso. comunicación, disciplina autonomía y distribución de rol. Los resultados muestran una relación significativa entre los estilos de crianza de padres y madres. No obstante, las madres puntuaron más bajo que los padres en apoyo y más alto que éstos en compromiso. Comunicación y distribución de rol. Además, las madres con hijas puntuaron más alto que los padres en distribución de rol mientras que las madres con hijos no lo hicieron. Finalmente se discute la importancia de la distribución de roles en las familias actuales
This current study analyses the differences which exist between parentlng styles from both parents and its relation to the sex of children, in a sample of 298 families ol children (166 male & 132 female) between 3 and 14 years old Parenting style was assessed according to the Parent-Child Relationship lnventory (PCRI} composed of seven factors such as support, satisfaction with parenting, involvement, communication, limit setting, autonomy granting, and role orientation. The results show a significant relationship between the parenting styles of fathers and mothers. However, mothers scored lower than fa thers in support and higher than them in involvement,communication and role orientation. Further, mothers with daughters scored higher than fathers in role orientation but mothers with sons did not. Finally, the importance of role orientation in the present-day family is discussed.
