Our paper is devoted to the idea of cross-cultural education, since we think it is one of the most important challenges society faces nowadays. We believe that lite rature is a privileged framework for these studies, as literary texts can mirror social reality. In this sense, we will start dealing with cross-cultural studies. Then, we will present some extracts from a novel and we will analyse the socio-cultural implications and the historical context. Finally, we will propase a methodological approach to raise cross-cultural awareness in class. We firmly believe that historical knowledge is the keystone of a genuine crosscultural education which last stand is to raise critical awareness in our students.
