Un Podocnemis (Chelonia, Pelomedusidae) del Ludiense de Aldearrubia (Salamanca)

Un Podocnemis (Chelonia, Pelomedusidae) del Ludiense de Aldearrubia (Salamanca)

Abstract

[EN]We describe a new found African helmeted Aldearrubia (Salamanca), which has been classified as Podocnemis sp. Fragmentation only allows knowing the front of the bib, which has been compared with that of its cofamiliares Lutetian Stereogennys salmanticensis, Podocnemis carbajosai and Podocnemis entodermica. As the age of the new field is Ludiense, this finding raises awareness about the vertical extent of the family of the African helmeted in the Douro Valley and extends the possibilities of establishing a precise phylogenetic relationships, so far manifest themselves locally by the appearance of very unique morphological characteristics. The dates made at the beginning of the century by Miguel (1906) in San Morales allowed to specify the age of the Paleogene Salamanca, in the range compredi?ndola Bartonian-Sannosiense, under the presence of Paloplotherium (Palaeotherium) Xiphodon minus and gracile.
