Los misterios y la magia en las Eti?picas de Heliodoro

Abstract

El desarrollo y el auge sobre la sociedad greco-romana de las religiones orientales, religiones de misterios y de salvaci?n, fue, de hecho, una expresi?n de la fusi?n de los diversos pueblos, realizada bajo la orientaci?n del helenismo y contribuy? a una importante renovaci?n de la ideolog?a religiosa. A partir del siglo II. d.C. estas doctrinas religiosas eran una caracter?stica relevante del pensamiento greco-romano, fundi?ndose con los distintos sistemas filos?ficos y con otras formas de pensamiento, como la superstici?n, la magia, el hermetismo, etc. En el universo literario hay un tipo de obras, diversas y diferentes, que participan de todas estas manifestaciones culturales con unos objetivos muy concretos, seg?n nuestra opini?n, de renovaci?n y de control ideol?gico; todo ello expresado por medio de un proceso complejo y contradictorio. Entre estas corrientes literarias podemos encuadrar a las novelas greco-romanas, cuyos elementos esenciales ya se encuentran en la Weltanschauung del mundo helen?stico, y, de hecho, sus or?genes remontan a la ?poca alejandrina, como prueban las evidencias que poseemos.
