El Yacimiento Achelense de ?El Basalito? (Castras de Yeltes, Salamanca). Estudio geol?gico

Abstract

Aproximaci?n Americana.

[EN] The acheulian site studied in this paper is located in materials pertaining to the cover of the Duero basin, and lying on the hercinian basement of the central zone of the Iberian Meseta. A review is made of the literature related to the geological features of this zone and its cover, and a detailed study is made of the stratigraphical characteristics of this site. The archeological pieces were found in the higher part of a stratigraphical series of eocene age and within the soil horizons developed from these sediments. The stratigraphical column of this eocene series shows 20 different beds, corresponding to an alternation of sand, conglomerate and gravel deposited in a fluvial environement and totalling a thickness of 8,40 meters. The soil has been graphically sketched described in detail and classified according to the Vllth Approximation.
