El turismo es uno de los principales fen?menos econ?micos a principios del siglo XXI. Su crecimiento ha sido continuo desde los a?os cincuenta hasta nuestros d?as y est? cada vezm?s presente en los pa?ses con altos niveles de pobreza. En el debate sobre la relaci?n entre turismo y pobreza, existe consenso en que el turismo puede ser un importante mecanismopara reducir la pobreza. Sin embargo, hay una importante carencia para medir los efectos del turismo sobre la pobreza. El objetivo de este trabajo es medir el impacto del turismosobre la pobreza. Este trabajo pretende aportar una nueva herramienta metodol?gica que permita evaluar econ?micamente si existe turismo a favor de los pobres (pro-poor tourism,PPT). Se realiza una adaptaci?n de la nueva literatura del an?lisis pro-poor al fen?meno del turismo. Esta propuesta se complementa con un an?lisis de sensibilidad respecto al umbral.
The tourism is one of the principal economic phenomena at the beginning of the 21st century. Its growth has been constant from the fifties up to now, and it is increasingly present in the countries with high levels of poverty. In the debate on the relation between tourism and poverty, there exists consensus in which the tourism can be an important mechanism to reduce the poverty. Nevertheless, there is an important lack to measure the effects of the tourism on the poverty. The aim of this work is to measure the impact of the tourism on the poverty. This paper aims for provide a new methodological tool that allows economically assess the existence of tourism pro-poor (pro-poor tourism,PPT). It presents a new adaptation of the existing literature on the analysis of the phenomenon of tourism pro-poor. This proposal is complemented by a sensitivity analysis regarding the threshold.
