Abstract

En este epílogo que acompaña a la traducción de tres ensayos fundamentales del autor Sakaguchi Ango (Mi visión de la cultura japonesa 1942, Sobre la decadencia 1946 y Más sobre la decadencia 1946) la traductora aporta un contexto histórico y social para profundizar en la comprensión de los textos y hace un análisis de las ideas fundamentales que contienen dichos ensayos. Sakaguchi Ango, la voz más destacada surgida en Japón tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial, cuestionó por primera vez los arquetipos culturales y sociales que constreñían a la sociedad japonesa de su tiempo y que moldearon la mentalidad que condujo a la guerra. En sus ensayos Ango desmonta los engaños del nacionalismo y ofrece una visión descarnada del ideario que precipitó el desastre, al tiempo que construye un alegato en defensa de las pasiones más humanas, de la libertad y de la esencia que aflora cuando se lucha por sobrevivir en una situación extrema.
