Unveiling Scam Messages: a Forensic Linguistic Analysis of Scam Messages

Abstract

This TFG is based on the importance of using forensic linguistics to analyse scam messages. Through a forensic linguistic analysis, the main objective is to identify the specific linguistic characteristics of different scam messages, which can be considered as danger markers and can be used in the future for risk assessment so as to be able to prevent similar and potentially criminal cases. This study is limited to pointing out whether there are linguistic markers or patterns that determine fraudulent messages, and to see the importance of forensic linguistics when carrying out this particular kind of study, which is currently going to have a great impact owing to the great proliferation of this type of scams through the connectivity that new technologies provide us with.
