[EN]Experimental models have been, for hundreds of years, a great advance in research, but especially in the biomedical field, where it is possible, in a non-invasive way for humans, to study and find out aspects that were unknown until now depending on physiology. Relevant molecular studies on sperm, oocyte and embryo quality; the use of the animal model in the field of reproduction; variable cell cultures but based on classical models; and novel applications of three-dimensional cultures that involve different cellular characteristics independent of each other but integrated at the same time are detailed. In this review, we intend to give a global overview of the existing experimental models and interesting studies applied to Assisted Human Reproduction, the advantages that this implies and how they are approached, representing the relevance of the use of the experimental model and research for the improvement of reproductive rates, as well as the limits that can be found and the horizons that they provide as new therapeutic strategies in the future, or advances in the understanding of various pathological situations and the benefit that will always be of benefit to the human species.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
