Bifosfonatos en cirug?a bucal

Abstract

[EN]Introduction: Bisphosphonates are a kind of drugs which are used in the treatment and management of skeletal diseases and oncological procedure. They can produce adverse effects such as BRONJ, that may be more prevalente after dental surgery; a good diagnosis must be made, in order to classify it into 4 stages and later made the most successful treatment. The purpose of this study is help the dentist in his decisions when a patient medicated with bisphosphonates is a candidate for oral intervention. Methods: A bibliographic review has been carried out to find articles related to the subject of study. Finally, 32 articles were selected. Results: After the analysis of the selected articles, several protocols have been developed to guide the dentist: protocol according to type of BP (oral or intravenous therapy), protocol of action in patients medicated with antiresoptive agents before and during this therapy and the BRONJ treatment protocol according to the stage in which it is found. Conclusions: Our decision-making will be influenced by the characteristics of the patient's medication, so it is important that we know this pathology very well in order to know how to prevent and diagnose it. KEY WORDS: oral bisphosphonates, osteonecrosis of the jaw, treatment, prevention, bifosfonatos tratamiento, cirug?a bucal.
