In the current study, we report on French loanwords in Basque language from Iparralde, in other words, the French Basque Country. The aim of this project is to offer a detailed vision of the field of French influence in Basque?s vocabulary. For that purpose, we have prepared a list of words that come from French, extracted from the Euskaltzandia?s dictionary. With these words, we have developed our study under two perspectives: the phonetic and orthographic adaptations of Gallicisms in the Basque linguistic system, and the analysis of other aspects of loanwords such as necessary loanwords, calques, and false friends.
