Estructura molecular y funciones del Chitosan, una revisión bibliográfica

Abstract

La hemorragia masiva continúa siendo una de las principales causas de muerte prematura en el entorno prehospitalario. El quitosano ha sido en los últimos años uno de los materiales utilizados en el ambiente militar y civil para el control del sangrado. El propósito de esta revisión bibliográfica es contextualizar los usos de este biopolímero analizando su estructura molecular, sus propiedades y los productos comercializados disponibles. La búsqueda de bibliográfica se realizó a través de PubMed, SciELO, Google Scholar y MEDES de los que se analizaron 12 artículos. La comparación de información entre los estudios anteriormente nombrados esclareció que el quitosano es un derivado de la quitina cuya estructura le proporciona la capacidad de interactuar con los componentes sanguíneos y otra serie de cualidades. Se analizarán en este trabajo la capacidad hemostática, antimicrobiana y citotóxica del chitosan, así como los apósitos que se encuentran disponibles hoy en día para el uso sanitario.
