Principales causas del embarazo de alto riesgo

Abstract

El embarazo de alto riesgo se caracteriza por una serie de factores que convierten una gestaci?n, sin aparentes complicaciones, en una que requiere un seguimiento, cuidado o tratamiento m?s espec?fico y delicado. Existen numerosas causas que convierten un embarazo de bajo riesgo obst?trico en uno de alto riesgo. Entre las m?s frecuentes encontramos la edad de la gestante, las enfermedades maternas previas que condicionan la gestaci?n y el consumo de ciertos t?xicos durante el embarazo. Desde hace varios a?os en Espa?a se registra un aumento en el n?mero de embarazos de alto riesgo, gran parte de ellos asociados al incremento de la edad media de las embarazadas, a lo que se le a?aden algunas patolog?as asociadas a la edad que no presentan las adultas j?venes. En esta revisi?n bibliogr?fica se observar?n las consecuencias causadas por los embarazos en mujeres con edades inferiores o superiores a los l?mites de edad establecidos para una gestaci?n de bajo riesgo, as? como los efectos de las enfermedades m?s prevalentes en la gestaci?n y los t?xicos m?s com?nmente consumidos. Estas consecuencias se observan tanto a nivel materno, con la aparici?n de patolog?as o s?ntomas que pueden ser leves, graves o incluso comprometer su vida, como a nivel fetal, pudiendo afectar a su crecimiento, desarrollo, bienestar dentro del ?tero o pudiendo provocar un aborto.
