El Instituto-Escuela y el ideal de arquitectura escolar

Abstract

[ES]Inicialmente el “Instituto-Escuela”, institución educativa española fundada en Madrid en 1918, contó desde el curso 1928-29 con un edificio emplazado en las proximidades del observatorio astronómico de Juan de Villanueva y de la glorieta de Atocha, proyectado por Francisco Javier Luque y dedicado en la actualidad a instituto Isabel la Católica. Durante la década de 1930 se inauguraron nuevos edificios para el Instituto en los Altos del Hipódromo con proyecto de los arquitectos Arniches y Domínguez; así, los pabellones de Bachillerato, de 1931, y el pabellón de Primaria, en 1933. La finalidad de la presente contribución es, en la medida de lo posible, corroborar la clasificación anterior y confrontar cada una de las soluciones ensayadas por el Instituto-Escuela en sus sucesivas encarnaciones con los modelos arquitectónicos que los inspiraron.
