[EN]Theorical context: Low concentrations of serum cholesterol have been found in patients with aggressive and / or suicidal behavior. These low concentrations can occur naturally or in an induced manner, either by diet or drug treatment. Objective: To determine the relationship between lipids, particularly cholesterol levels and aggressive behavior, identifying those factors that favor this relationship, measurements of each and their relevance to the physical, psychological and social well-being. Methodology: A review of 32 empirical and review articles reports from 1990 to 2015. Results: It has been shown in all studies, an increase in violent or suicidal behavior in people with low levels of cholesterol, research in animals and in humans suggest that low levels of cholesterol can reduce serotonergic activity which in turn is linked to violent behavior, among others. Conclusions: The results suggest more attention to the psychological effects that appear after lowering cholesterol, thus decreasing the risk of suicidal or violent behavior after detection and treatment of cholesterol.
