Abstract

La Odontolog?a est?tica se encarga sobre todo de mejorar la est?tica dental de los pacientes, sin olvidar la parte funcional que toda restauraci?n conlleva. Las resinas compuestas, al ser actualmente el material restaurador de elecci?n en obturaciones, ofrecen la ventaja de que su color es similar al del diente, pero tambi?n poseen inconvenientes notables: deben de utilizar sistemas adhesivos adecuados para su uni?n con el diente y son materiales que contraen y cambian de color. En este estudio nos planteamos los objetivos de cuantificar los cambios de color sufridos por varios colores de distintas marcas comerciales en distintos periodos de tiempo y en varios medios de conservaci?n. Adem?s comparamos varias f?rmulas para cuantificar este cambio crom?tico. Para ello, utilizamos el espectrofot?metro Easyshade Comapct (Vita-Zahnbabrik) para medir pastillas de composite de 2 mm de espesor, almacenadas en suero o Coca-Cola durante un periodo m?ximo de 16 semanas. Se observ? una falta de estandarizaci?n significativa por parte de los fabricantes para un mismo color evidenci?ndose, adem?s, los distintos comportamientos tras la polimerizaci?n de los composites dentales seg?n su composici?n. Se encontraron diferencias estad?sticamente significativas entre distintas marcas comerciales en ambos medios de conservaci?n. Tambi?n se determin? que la f?rmula para medir la diferencia de color CIEDE 2000 est? m?s relacionada con la percepci?n de color que la f?rmula eucl?dea cl?sica, por lo que resulta la f?rmula de elecci?n. Como conclusi?n, y con las limitaciones de este estudio podemos afirmar que existen cambios de color significativos en las resinas compuestas dentales en funci?n de la composici?n, del tiempo y medio de almacenamiento y del proceso de polimerizaci?n.
