Turismo rural y turismo activo

Abstract

El turismo en el medio rural se venía practicando de forma espontánea desde hace muchas décadas.Pero en los últimos, años la demanda de actividades turístico-recreativas en el medio rural ha experimentado un crecimiento mucho mayor que otras manifestaciones del turismo, hasta el punto de constituirse en un producto que se comercializa profesionalmente. Las causas que han influido en el desarrollo de estas nuevas formas de turismo en el medio rural son muy variadas. Desde el cambio en las motivaciones de los turistas, que en muchas ocasiones han adoptado los valores de la cultura ecologista iniciada en los años sesenta, y ven en el medio natural/rural un espacio de gran valor ambiental; a la política de fomento desarrollada por las Administraciones Públicas, que buscan en este fenómeno nuevas alternativas económicas frente a problemas, como el declive de las economías agrarias o la estacionalidad imperante en el tradicional turismo de sol y playa; por poner algunos ejemplos. Actualmente, el medio rural acoge una gran variedad de actividades de ocio que vienen siendo identificadas con distintas denominaciones, a menudo imprecisas, en un claro afán por diferenciar y otorgar entidad propia a los diversos productos.A falta de definiciones legales, la Doctrina se aglutina en torno a dos posturas: unos partidarios de la diferenciación y el acotamiento, y otros que por el contrario, consideran que se trata de simples apartados o manifestaciones de un mismo fenómeno, el turismo rural. A nuestro entender, se trata de productos íntimamente relacionados, que en la mayoría de los casos tienen como denominador común el desarrollarse en el medio natural/rural.
