Humanismo en Jap?n

Abstract

Este ensayo se propone iniciar una investigaci?n del humanismo en un contexto global a partir de la propuesta presentada en 1997 por el Nobel japon?s Kenzaburo Oe. La condici?n humana ya es cantada por poetas y sabios de la antig?edad griega resaltando especialmente su aspecto azaroso en un esquema c?smico donde el hombre ocupa una posici?n microsc?pica. Por su parte, las historias intelectuales convencionales sit?an el origen del Humanismo hist?rico en la Europa del siglo XIV, en particular en la ciudad de Florencia y en la figura de Petrarca, ignorando de este modo la emergencia de un humanismo chino, con muchos siglos de anticipaci?n. En la ?poca contempor?nea, y por tanto como precedentes intelectuales del humanismo de Oe, nos encontramos con tres l?neas diferenciadas. A estos modelos se a?ade en la era de posguerra la propuesta del esteticismo humanista de Kawabata (1899-1972), tal como lo expone en su conferencia de recepci?n del Nobel en 1968 y que viene precedida por el esteticismo de preguerra de Tanizaki. Siguiendo el hilo conductor que nos presta Oe en su art?culo de 1997, reparamos en el segundo modelo de humamismo, Soseki Natsume (1867-1916), de quien Oe centra su inter?s en la novela Sore kara (And Then, 1909). Frente a todo tipo de utopismo humanista heredado de la tradici?n, sea occidental o japonesa, Oe inserta su humanismo en una percepci?n realista de la condici?n humana. Se concluye que quiz? a Oe le toque (como a Stephan Zweig, ?humanista solitario en tiempos de indigencia,? al decir de Luis F. Moreno) vivir su propuesta en el seno de una posmodernidad que le es ajena.
