Abstract

En el Pa?s Vasco, al igual que en el resto del Estado espa?ol peninsular, el Sistema Oficial Geod?sico de Referencia, y vigente a fecha de realizaci?n de las observaciones es ED50, materializado por la Red Geod?sica Nacional de Espa?a, y las densificaciones de cuarto orden realizadas por el Gobierno Vasco, con una longitud de lado inferior a 4 km. Ahora bien, este sistema local presenta a la hora de su aprovechamiento geod?sico real serios problemas debido a su baja precisi?n relativa (observaciones cl?sicas). Este hecho obligar? a tomar en breve espacio de tiempo, una soluci?n alternativa para la implantaci?n de una Red Geod?sica propia destinada a dar cobertura a los trabajos cartogr?ficos del Pais Vasco apoyados en un sistema global mucho m?s preciso, como es EUREF, con las pertinentes densificaciones resultantes de la observaci?n GPS de alta precisi?n de una Red de Orden Cero, con lados de unos 100 a 200 kms., con garant?as mejores que 0,1 partes por mill?n en planimetr?a y 1 parte por mill?n en altimetr?a elipsoidal. Ahora bien, para enlazar estos resultados al Sistema Altim?trico de altitudes es imprescindible realizar un contraste del Geoide en el Territorio Vasco. Los objetivos geod?sicos fundamentales de los trabajos GPS que vamos a describir son: uni?n de las redes planim?tricas y altim?tricas del Pa?s Vasco al Sistema de Referencia Europeo definido por la Red EUREF y establecida mediante observaciones GPS en toda Europa Occidental, durante los a?os 1.989 y 1.990, implementando el sistema de referencia global WGS84 denominado ITRS89.
