El vampirismo como met?fora de la adicci?n en el cine de los ochenta (1987-1995)

Abstract

El uso de diversas sustancias, designadas popularmente como drogas, tuvo un gran auge a partir de los a?os cincuenta. El uso, h?bito y dependencia se relacionaron como causa y efecto con implicaciones econ?micas, sanitarias y pol?ticas, que contribuyeron a construir el ?problema de las drogas? y de la adicci?n. Los medios de comunicaci?n social permitieron crear, en la d?cada de los setenta, el estereotipo del drogadicto como el del consumidor de hero?na por v?a intravenosa. Este estereotipo fue asumido tambi?n por el cine y, particularmente, por el g?nero de terror en sus tendencias postmodernas de los a?os ochenta. De esta forma, el vampiro cl?sico es transformado en un adicto a la sangre, cuya dependencia y, fundamentalmente, abstinencia se recrean con la iconograf?a e interpretaciones con que la sociedad m?s tradicionalista percib?a a los toxic?manos. La creaci?n de la met?fora vamp?rica no s?lo refleja los miedos sociales a la amenazante tentaci?n de la adicci?n y el temor a los individuos transgresores que consumen sustancias prohibidas, sino que revierte de una forma sugerente en el espectador para reforzar estereotipos sociales.
