Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio fue comprobar el efecto sobre el dolor postoperatorio pedi?trico de un programa de promoci?n del juego en el hospital. La hip?tesis de investigaci?n fue que los ni?os manifestar?an menos dolor si, a trav?s del juego, se promov?a su distracci?n durante el per?odo postoperatorio. Para comprobar esta hip?tesis se realiz? un ensayo aleatorizado paralelo con dos grupos, uno experimental y otro control. El grupo control no recibi? ning?n tratamiento espec?fico, sino la atenci?n estandarizada prevista en el hospital. Los padres de los ni?os del grupo experimental recibieron instrucciones para que jugasen con sus hijos en el per?odo postoperatorio y material de juego espec?fico para hacerlo. Los resultados obtenidos apoyan la hip?tesis de investigaci?n. Los ni?os del grupo experimental puntuaron en la escala de dolor por t?rmino medio m?s bajo que los ni?os del grupo control. Esto sucedi? en las tres medidas de dolor postoperatorio efectuadas. Se concluye que el programa de promoci?n del juego puede servir para aliviar el dolor postoperatorio de los ni?os.
