The use of drilling noise in predicting tool wear

Abstract

This report sums up the activities related to the Applied Research funded project RP 23/84 "The use of drilling noise in predicting tool wear". The report has two sections: The first section pertain to preliminary studies on drilling torque, force on drill wear. Some results on the empirical equation relating torque and thrust to drill diameter and surface velocity were obtained for different drill usage.
