A semi-analytical numerical method for pile-soil interaction analysis in layered soil is proposed in this thesis. The proposed method combines the finite layer method for modelling the elastic response of a layered soil with the finite element approach for raft and piles. The method has been extended to account for non-linear response at the pile-soil interface. The behaviour of a pile group with a flexible pile cap which is in contact with the ground may also be analysed by the proposed approach.
