Abstract

The professional career in the last years, as a senior forestry engineering technician, allowed me to consolidate knowledge acquired during University life, as well as to acquire skills and background, with a great and constant willingness to learn and know-how. Through a chronological sequence, this report aims to give an insight into my career path, which went through several areas of intervention and started before completing a degree in Forestry Engineering, in the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, at the Agricultural Cooperative of Penela da Beira, where I played numerous roles in the context of production, marketing and distribution of chestnut variety Martaínha. Afterwards, the opportunity has arose for me to join Fencaça - Portuguese Federation of Hunting where, for seven consecutive years, I played part in cinegetic management and with all the surroundings from the constitution of a hunting area to taking part of hunting journeys and their handling, as well as participation in all actions to promote the sector. Later on and for five years, I played roles as self-employed as: trainer in several accredited entities; municipal deputy in Censos 2011, at the the National Institute of Statistics and as a liaison officer in Afocelca, in Viseu District Command of relief Operations. Finally the admission in Felba - Promotion of Fruits and Vegetables of Beira Alta, company of reference in the national and international prospects, making part of the team that promotes and values the Protected Designation of Origin of Bravo de Esmolfe’s apple and Protected Geographical Indication of the Beira Alta’s apple. In addition to the description of the tasks performed in different periods an analysis is made of the hunting sector in mainland Portugal, giving highlighting to what was done in the sector in the last years and what can still be done at the level of hunting planning, emphasizing social, economic, environmental and cultural advantages.
