Abstract

The global population growth, along with the industrial developments and technological advances have led to an increase of water consumption worldwide, making it essential to a balanced management of water resources. The geographic information systems (GIS) are a means to support the planning and management of these resources with wide applicability. As software to support the study of the existing reservoirs and water needs, the MIKE BASIN has been widely applied in various parts of the world in different surveys. This software is integrated with the GIS, which is a tool of interest for the effective management of natural water resources within the geographical scope of the watershed. This work develops a software application MIKE BASIN River Basin in Vila Cha in the municipality of Alijó. The application of GIS in hydrologic modeling aided the treatment of spatial information, revealing the great interest in making decisions related either to the management and the planning of natural water resources. In two different scenarios proposed for the year 2070 (water supply to the municipality of Sabrosa and reforestation of the forests with pine), estimated to be decreased water availability Bayou Village Cha. This will not be able to ensure the entire water supply to the population, especially in the summer months. In the event of a fire, water availability increases, enabling the security needs of all populations, but is not a scenario likely accomplish.
