Abstract

The presented report give us, with a time course structure, an overview of a diverse career in several areas of the forest industry with specific passages, but very enriching, in other areas of intervention. Even before the completion of the degree in Forestry Engineering that occurred in 1999 by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), it was possible to begin the professional activity, performing various functions with a very marked fieldwork component. Later comes the opportunity to join the civil service, for six consecutive years, which were performed in forest-oriented functions and subsequently with a striking passage through the project area (from the financing point of view) of rural areas. This was followed by a stint as liberal professional with a lot of formative activity and development of rural projects. Finally entering the Portucel Soporcel group, reference company in the national forest industry, as a collaborator on land purchases and leases and in several issues of the wood and biomass supply for the manufacturing centers. For the activities described, as well as a brief background and explication of the tasks undertaken, conclusions are presented to show the strengths and difficulties of every moment, showing that it is possible to learn from every situation, improving and acquiring new skills in every step of the professional career.
