O Conto: Contributos Para a Aprendizagem da Leitura

Abstract

Tales represent an important element in children personality construction and imagination. The classic tale, orally transmitted (or not), intends to communicate and perpetuate the memory and collective consciousness of a certain culture, but contemporary literary tales allow children to imagine and dream, make questions and suppositions. Both are, without a doubt, very important for children. Listening, telling and reading stories are proper to childhood, as well as learning to speak. In this study, we demonstrate that getting reading skills thanks to tales awakes an early comprehension of texts, and promote the learning and consolidation of reading skills. A meaningful reading has consequences on the reading skills and children’s intellectual and cultural growth. As we learn to speak with words and meaningful sentences, why shouldn’t we choose the same method in reading teaching/learning?
