Abstract

Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo estudiar la metodología de ultrasonidos en tiempo real (UTR) para estimar las reservas de grasa de conejas con diferente condición corporal a partir de medidas de espesor da grasa perirenal, teniendo el riñón como referencia. Se han efectuado mediciones de espesor de grasa perirenal in vivo, en 21 conejas adultas, por la técnica de UTR y a continuación se han cuantificado los diferentes depósitos de grasa después del sacrificio de los animales. Se ha realizado un análisis descriptivo de los datos y determinado la correlación entre las mediciones obtenidas in vivo y los pesos de las grasas obtenidos después de la muerte. Los depósitos de grasa presentaron una gran variación, siendo mayor (CV=123%) para la grasa pélvica. Los mejores coeficientes de correlación fueron encontrados entre la medida espesor de grasa perirenal (EGPeri) evaluada en el animal vivo con ultrasonidos y la grasa perirenal (r = 0,90; P < 0,01) y la grasa corporal total (0,89; P < 0,01). Los resultados del presente trabajo indican que el espesor de grasa perirenal obtenida mediante ultrasonidos se puede considerar un buen indicador de los depósitos de grasa perirenal y corporal de las conejas adultas.
