Patologia estomatológica: dentária em roedores

Abstract

Rodents as guinea pigs, chinchillas and hamsters have become usual pets. Because of their anatomical and physiological characteristics, many health problems in rodent species are primary or secondarily related to dental disease. It is necessary that veterinary doctors learn about these diseases, acknowledging the etiologic factors, the most important symptoms and clinical signs, as well as the medical exams that help reaching a final diagnosis and the best treatment. This work was designed to elucidate the differences between diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of dental disease in pet rodent species and to offer up-to-date information about this subject.
