The integration of Portuguese education in the Bologna process and the consequent abolition of traineeship, increased the students need to contact with the business reality during their academic preparation. This need is specially highlighted in courses where the business contact is vital, like Enterprise Management and Accounting. Schools that have this type of courses, since Bologna gave more importance to disciplines (or even create new ones) where this contact is possible. Normally, these disciplines have the name of Enterprise Simulation. In these disciplines imaginary companies are created by students to simulate commercial transactions. Each commercial transaction generates a commercial document (ex: invoice). The management of these commercial documents is usually supported by the Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP), like for instance CentralGest, PHC, Sage, Primavera, etc. But, these systems are insufficient to represent the business world complexity. Transactions with banks, commercial transaction with other enterprises and tax obligations are examples of transactions that students do not have the chance to deal with. In order to fill this gap, this work proposes to develop a simulator that imitates part of the business complexity, complementing the ERP systems. To delimitate the simulation size and complexity, the simulator will simulate three main areas: financial area; commercial area; and the tax obligations area. In the financial area, the simulator will imitate the common transactions, like payments, see bank balance, etc. In the commercial area, the simulator will imitate commercial transactions like buy/sell products/services in national or international markets. In the tax obligations areas the simulator will simulate the main tax obligations, such as the delivery of VAT numbers derived from sales.
