Abstract

En la presente tesis doctoral, empleando herramientas biológicas diseñadas ad-hoc, tales como receptores deficientes en unión de ligandos, acoplamiento a proteína G y localización subcelular, usadas en diseños experimentales dirigidos a estudiar la funcionalidad del homodímero 5-HT2A, se ha obtenido información acerca de la unidad funcional del dímero y la capacidad de complementación entre protómeros. A mayores, se ha caracterizado el mecanismo de acción in vitro de dos compuestos con afinidad y selectividad por el receptor 5-HT7, lo que nos ha permitido describir la inactivación irreversible de la funcionalidad del receptor por parte de estas herramientas químicas.
