Raízes de Pessoa na Galiza

Abstract

Este livro prova o nexo genealógico que por via materna leva Fernando Pessoa a um trisavô galego. Oferece as evidências documentais e reconstrói a prodigiosa peripécia desse antepassado, que como capitão e sargento-mor graduado passou por Faro e Lisboa e chegou a lecionar na Academia Militar de Ilha Terceira, falecendo com 63 anos em Angra do Heroísmo. A família galega de Pessoa no século XVIII e a procura de parentescos atuais constituem capítulos complementares. Na segunda parte Carlos Quiroga aborda as relações literárias do próprio Pessoa com este espaço. O foco está nas resenhas de Orpheu produzidas de modo exclusivo na Galiza, na naturalidade galega de Álvaro de Campos e muito em particular de Alberto Caeiro. Aponta-se a conjetura de um Caeiro galego ser referente real, na sugestão do nome do heterónimo por parte de Guisado, intermediário privilegiado. E estuda-se a hipótese de um dos textos publicados em jornal galego sobre a revista portuguesa ser de provável autoria pessoana.
