Abstract

Bajo el precepto de perpetuar un linaje regio, los reinos medievales prestan especial atención a la descendencia, y en ello la Corona de Castilla no es diferente. Desde esta premisa, el presente trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar la infancia cortesana castellana en el siglo XV partiendo, para ello, de tres momentos concretos que jalonan su existencia: el nacimiento, la crianza y la muerte. Recurriendo a fuentes diversas, tanto primarias,bibliográficas como elaboradas desde diversas disciplinas, pretendemos lograr un conocimiento trasversal del modo en que se desarrolla la vida de los infantes en las cortes de la dinastía Trastámara, con el objeto de conocer y profundizar, en última instancia, en el ejercicio práctico y condiciones simbólicas del poder de la dinastía trastamarista desde la perspectiva de los infantes.
