Nuevos materiales y diseños macroscópicos en implantes dentales

Abstract

Desde el desarrollo de la implantología oral, inicialmente con implantes de titanio, hasta la actualidad, se ha producido una evolución significativa gracias a la investigación en la composición y el diseño de los mismos, con el objetivo de mejorar todos los aspectos funcionales y estéticos mediante el control de los procesos fisiológicos. Teniendo en cuenta la amplia variedad de implantes disponibles, tanto en material como en diseño, y la limitada literatura que presenta resultados a largo plazo con diseños metodológicos adecuados, el objetivo de esta tesis doctoral fue analizar nuevos diseños de implantes, considerando tanto su material (zirconio) como su diseño macroscópico (implantes con nuevos diseños roscados). Para ello, se llevaron a cabo dos investigaciones: un ensayo clínico aleatorizado (RCT) que comparó implantes de titanio con implantes de zirconio y una serie de casos (in line-case series) centrada en un nuevo diseño macroscópico de implante de titanio.
