Epidemiología, factores de riesgo, perfil microbiológico y tratamiento de las queratitis infecciosas en Galicia

Abstract

La queratitis infecciosa ocurre cuando microorganismos invaden el estroma corneal, situación favorecida por alteraciones en la barrera epitelial. Es una causa significativa de ceguera en zonas con difícil acceso a atención médica. En España no hay datos actualizados sobre su prevalencia e incidencia, y el perfil microbiológico varía según factores climáticos y socioeconómicos, lo que influye en el manejo y los resultados. El tratamiento empírico inicial suele basarse en fluoroquinolonas o combinaciones de antibióticos fortificados, reservándose la cirugía para los casos más graves. El incremento de la resistencia antimicrobiana complica el abordaje y enfatiza la necesidad de estrategias más eficaces. Objetivos: Analizar la epidemiología, los factores de riesgo, el perfil microbiológico, las resistencias antimicrobianas y los tratamientos de la queratitis infecciosa no vírica en Galicia. Además, evaluar las intervenciones quirúrgicas y los factores asociados al fracaso terapéutico.
