Derrames pleurales malignos metastásicos: predictores de supervivencia

Abstract

Un pronóstico preciso e individualizado en el momento de la presentación del derrame pleural maligno que estime adecuadamente la supervivencia puede ayudar a personalizar las estrategias terapéuticas. Sin embargo, los factores que condicionan la mortalidad en estos casos no están bien establecidos. Disponer de un modelo predictivo basado en datos clínicos y biomarcadores analíticos, con capacidad de predecir la expectativa de vida, sería de gran relevancia clínica, ya que podría ayudar a aplicar la mejor estrategia terapéutica en cada caso. El objetivo principal del estudio fue desarrollar un modelo predictivo de supervivencia en los pacientes con un derrame pleural maligno metastásico (DPMM) que permita elegir la mejor estrategia terapéutica en cada enfermo. El objetivo secundario fue comparar la rentabilidad del modelo construido con el obtenido con el score LENT (el modelo referente actual) y el Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS).
