Abstract

En la presente tesis doctoral se estudian compuestos que actúan sobre canales iónicos modificando su actividad, en concreto se estudian toxinas marinas implicadas en la intoxicación por ciguatera, como son las ciguatoxinas, cuya principal diana son los canales de sodio dependientes de voltaje. En concreto, se reevaluó la potencia de estas toxinas, estableciendo factores de equivalencia tóxica in vitro. Estos datos se ampliaron con estudios toxicológicos in vivo para analizar su efecto agudo y subcrónico. El método de detección de ciguatoxinas también fue reevaluado. Un segundo apartado se centró en el estudio de las posibles sinergias entre las ciguatoxinas y otros compuestos que actúan sobre los mismos canales de sodio dependientes de voltaje como son brevetoxinas y el pesticida deltametrina.
