Sistema nervioso

Abstract

O sistema nervioso é o responsable de producir respostas apropiadas en músculos, órganos e glándulas ante cambios detectados no medio externo e interno. É o responsable ademais de funcións superiores tales como a memoria, cognición, autoconciencia, intelecto e personalidade. É afectado a miúdo por anomalías hereditarias ou do desenvolvemento, por procesos patolóxicos e traumatismos. O incremento na esperanza de vida e o progresivo envellecemento da poboación orixinou que as enfermidades neurodexenerativas (Alzheimer, Parkinson, ataxias...) estean a aumentar na actualidade. Galicia, cunha taxa de envellecemento do 19%, supera en tres puntos a media nacional e as provincias máis envellecidas son Ourense e Lugo, ambas as dúas con case un 26% de poboación maior de 65 anos. (XXIV Reunión Anual da Sociedade Galega de Neuroloxía) A prevención, diagnóstico e tratamento dos trastornos neurolóxicos son, polo tanto, de inmensa importancia socioeconómica. É por iso que unha comprensión da anatomía do sistema nervioso e a súa correlación coa función e a disfunción resulte fundamental para o estudante de farmacia actual, futuro profesional que ha de deseñar e lograr avances en vindeiros tratamentos. Na presente unidade didáctica expoñerase a morfoloxía e estrutura macroscópica do sistema nervioso central e periférico. Para iso describiranse os principais núcleos e estruturas do sistema nervioso, cunha dobre aproximación integrada neuroanatómica e neurofisiolóxica, asentando as bases para materias de cursos superiores do tipo de Fisioloxía Humana, Fisiopatoloxía e Farmacoloxía.
