Autoinmunidad y sistema renina angiotensina en enfermedad de Parkinson

Abstract

La enfermedad de Parkinson (EP) tiene una fisiopatología multifactorial y compleja en la que participan factores inmunológicos e inflamatorios. En la presente tesis estudiamos mecanismos autoinmunes e inflamatorios mediados por el sistema renina-angiotensina cerebral, así como su relación con procesos de inflamación periférica crónica (como Síndrome Metabólico; SMet) y aguda (como COVID19). Observamos un aumento de autoanticuerpos para receptores tipo 1 de angiotensina (AT1) y ACE2 en suero y LCR de pacientes con EP y modelos experimentales, pero también en pacientes con patología inflamatoria crónica (SMet) y aguda (COVID19), sugiriendo que comorbilidades inflamatorias puedan potenciar la EP por estos mecanismos autoimmunes y apoyando reposicionar antagonistas de AT1 (ARAII) como neuroprotectores en EP.
