Abstract

Introdución: Os antidepresivos (AD) son os fármacos empregados para tratar a depresión, sendo esta un dos trastornos afectivos máis frecuentes no mundo. Obxectivos: Coñecer a prevalencia do consumo de AD nunha poboación rural, determinar se existe asociación entre a prescrición de AD, variables socio-demográficas, o consumo de alcol e tabaco, e as patoloxías crónicas na poboación. Material e métodos: Estudo observacional dunha mostra aleatoria estratificada por idade da poboación de 18 anos ou máis do Concello da Estrada. N=1516 Variables: cuestionario estructurado con datos demográficos, enfermidades crónicas, fármacos, tabaco e alcol. Cuestionario International Physical Activity Questionnaire (short form) sobre actividade física e Escala de Goldberg de ansiedade e depresión. Resultados: Participaron no estudo 838 mulleres e 678 homes. Tomaban AD o 13,5% sendo o consumo maior nas mulleres (19,9%), que nos homes (5’5%). O uso de AD aumenta coa idade. Os viuvos/as e separados/as foron os grupos de maior consumo de AD, ao igual que os analfabetos, sen estudos ou que completaron a escola. Encontrouse unha relación inversa entre a realización de actividade física e o uso de AD. Sen embargo, os participantes que non fuman e menos alcohol beben toman máis AD. Achouse unha asociación significativa entre toma de AD e enfermidades crónicas: diabetes mellitus (DM), hipertensión arterial (HTA), hiperlipemia (HLP), depresión ou enfermedades osteoarticulares. A positividade na escala de Goldberg de ansiedade e depresión tamén se asocia cun maior consumo de AD que se a escala é negativa. Todas estas asociacións foron estatísticamente significativas (p < 0,001). Conclusións: Encontrouse un alto consumo de AD en poboación xeral, sendo o perfil do consumidor o dunha muller maior, fráxil e pluripatolóxica
