Abstract

A publicación de Metaphors We Live By (1980) de Lakoff e Johnson marcou un antes e un despois na Lingüística cognitiva, pois revelou que a metáfora conceptual non só se trata de un fenómeno ubicuo, senón que actúa a diario como reitor da nosa fala, do noso pensamento e das nosas accións. En canto parte da estruturación conceptual da nosa mente, a metáfora permítenos acceder aos dominios máis complexos e abstractos da realidade, ademais de fornecer un marco cultural no que recoñecermos como grupo. Neste sentido, descóbrese como un campo de estudo fresco e vizoso, cuxa aplicación é especialmente relevante na área de didáctica de linguas, dado que cada comunidade lingüística e cultural elabora conceptualmente un universo de seu. Con este traballo pretendemos, en primeiro lugar, reflexionar sobre a pertinencia da abordaxe didáctica da metáfora conceptual na área de Lingua Galega e Literatura do ensino secundario. Consideramos que se trata dun fenómeno central na estruturación da linguaxe e do pensamento do alumnado, de modo que o seu tratamento nas aulas pode actuar de catalizador do desenvolvemento racional e metalingüístico deste e, aínda máis, da súa creatividade. Por outra banda, todo apunta a que a metáfora pode garantir un achegamento máis rendible e efectivo ao léxico e, concretamente, á fraseoloxía. A continuación, e confiando na versatilidade e no atractivo da metáfora conceptual, presentaremos unha proposta didáctica arredor dela e das súas posibilidades subversivas, entendendo que ensinar ao alumnado a desautomatizar a lingua e o pensamento implica espertalos do etnocentrismo, crebar prexuízos e abrirlles a porta a outras concepcións do mundo
