Abstract

Introducción: los quistes dermoides y epidermoides son tumores producidos por disembriogénesis, representando un 1% de todos los tumores intracraneales. Se caracterizan por su crecimiento lento y su curso benigno. Objetivos: conocer la incidencia y características de la resonancia magnética de quistes radiológicamente atípicos. Material y métodos: se han revisado un total de 6 pacientes con quistes que presentaban características radiológicas atípicas en la resonancia magnética. Caso clínico: se trata de un varón de 25 años en el que se descubrió incidentalmente un quiste epidermoide con características inusuales en la imagen. Revisión de la literatura: se elaboran una serie de tablas para hacer más fácil la recopilación y comparación de los datos. Se menciona la clínica de los pacientes, patrones radiológicos, evolución y complicaciones postoperatorias, … Encontramos un número bastante reducido de casos que presenten quistes epidermoides con estas características en la imagen. Conclusión: la incidencia de los quistes epidermoides radiológicamente atípicos es muy baja, explicándose este patrón por un gran contenido proteico en su interior. Cabe mencionar la posibilidad de una relación de esta atipia con la presentación lobular de estos quistes.
