El objetivo de la presente intervención arqueológica ha sido la documentación, registro y estudio de los restos arqueológicos de O Penedo dos Lobos, con el fin de avanzar en su caracterización crono-funcional y, concretamente, testar la hipótesis de que se trate de un asentamiento militar temporal de época romana altoimperial (Ss. I a.C.-III d. C.). De este modo, el estudio arqueológico del recinto de O Penedo dos Lobos puede contribuir enormemente al conocimiento de la presencia militar romana en el norte y noroeste peninsulares, así como al desarrollo de la Arqueología militar romana como disciplina en Galicia y Norte de Portugal.
