"Hybris" en Aristófanes

Abstract

En este trabajo se hará un estudio sobre la función del concepto de hybris en la obra de Aristófanes, así como, de una forma más marginal, en otras fuentes en las que pueda aparecer reflejada la visión del autor, fundamentalmente su intervención en el Banquete de Platón (189C-193D). Se tratará de conjugar, en la medida de lo posible, la visión tradicional del término que se ha hecho común, tanto en los Estudios Clásicos como en otros ámbitos de las humanidades, de hybris como transgresión de los propios límites impuestos y que lleva aparejado un castigo divino, junto a la propuesta defendida sobre todo por Fisher(Hybris. Warminster: Aris & Phillips, 1992), que parte de la definición dada por Aristóteles en su Retórica (1378b23-35}, más centrada en el uso real del término en textos de contenido legal, pero no sólo. El estudio se rea lizará primero a partir delos casos documentados del propio término en Aristófanes, para pasar luego a los contextos en que se puede plantear su presencia más difusa, fundamentalmente en tres sentidos: como elemento estructurador de la trama (tal como se viene analizando tradicionalmente para la tragedia); como elemento caracterizador de algunos personajes sin que constituya algo central del argumento; y, finalmente, como motor del propio género de la comedia, estudiando cómo se vincula con el humor y la función pedagógica del género.
