Sistema de triaje en urgencias generales

Abstract

Trabajo de Curso de Experto Universitario en Medicina de Urgencias y Emergencias (2013).Tutor: Ángel García Alcántara. El término Triaje (del frances triage) es un método de la medicina de emergencias y desastres para la selección y clasificación de los pacientes, basándose en prioridades de atención y privilegiando la posibilidad de supervivencia, de acuerdo a necesidades terapéuticas y recursos. Evita retrasar la atención que empeoraría el pronóstico por la demora. El aumento de consultas en S.U.H. hace imprescindible los sitemas de triaje; para dar respuesta inmediata a la demanda masificada, facilitar el trabajo del personal, disminuir la ansiedad de los enfermos y familiares ante la espera, aplicar unos sistemas de clasificación validados y/o consensuados, debe mantener y reforzar la relación interpersonal entre usuario y profesional sanitario. Es un sello de identidad del servicio de urgencias hospitalario, se trata de una herramienta objetiva que permite medir, evaluar y mejorar el funcionamiento y el rendimiento de dicho servicio. Los sistemas de triaje deben ser estructurados y basados en escalas de clasificación de cinco niveles; la asignación de los niveles debe fundamentarse en decisiones objetivas, apoyarse en algoritmos y sistemas informáticos que automaticen estas decisiones permitir al mismo tiempo ajustes por parte del profesional que lo realiza. Una correcta clasificación; evitará el perjuicio de tiempos de espera prolongados para las urgencias reales en beneficio de patologías banales y permitirá una actuación más adecuada en relaciòn a la urgencia del paciente: teniendo en cuenta los recursos humanos, materiales y organizativos del propio servicio.
