[SPA] Los organismos modificados genéticamente (GMO, en inglés) son de gran importancia en investigación. En plantas, se utilizan ciertas bacterias que transfieren un plásmido capaz de silenciar un determinado gen y además confiere resistencia a un antibiótico haciendo posible la selección de estos GMO; sin embargo el uso de estos antibióticos puede alterar y retrasar la germinación y el desarrollo de estas plantas, aún en aquéllas que son resistentes a dicho antibiótico.

[ENG] Genetically modified organisms (GMO) are important in research. In plants, certain bacteria transferring a plasmid capable of silencing a particular gene are used and confers resistance to an antibiotic enabling the selection of these GMO; however the use of these antibiotics can modify and delay germination and development of these plants even those that are resistant to that antibiotic.
