Abstract

Las terminales de contenedores son una parte cada vez más fundamental en la cadena logística. Por lo tanto, es necesario que encajen perfectamente en esta cadena, gestionando de manera adecuada el creciente tráfico marítimo. El incremento del tráfico marítimo no se ha visto ligado a un aumento de la capacidad de las terminales de contenedores. Por ello, las grandes terminales de contenedores del mundo están sufriendo una gran congestión debido a la demanda creciente del tráfico marítimo de contenedores. Terminales como Rotterdam, Hamburgo, Vancouver, Shangai o Hong Kong sufren con frecuencia retrasos en su operación, por lo que cada vez se dedican más esfuerzos a solucionar este problema. En este trabajo se analiza el funcionamiento de una terminal portuaria de contenedores: qué es un contenedor, qué es una terminal de contenedores, qué subsistemas la forman, qué equipos trabajan en ella. También se estudia la congestión portuaria y sus causas, para posteriormente describir las medidas tomadas para luchar contra ella. Las metodologías actuales de cálculo de la capacidad de las terminales de contenedores no tienen en cuenta la variabilidad del tráfico. El objetivo principal es estudiar las distintas metodologías de cálculo de la capacidad de la línea de atraque de una terminal de contenedores y, posteriormente, desarrollar una formulación adaptada a la capacidad diaria, como posible medida ante la congestión que actualmente sufren las terminales portuarias de contenedores. Una vez propuesta la formulación, se aplicará a tres puertos de la red española de Puertos del Estado, para finalizar con el estudio de los resultados y conclusiones.
