Abstract

El objetivo principal del presente trabajo es estudiar las posibilidades que presentan los cladodios de Opuntia como bioadsorbente de cadmio (II) cuando éste se encuentra en bajas concentraciones en disolución acuosa. Los objetivos específicos de la investigación son: 1. Preparación del material bioadsorbente mediante secado, molienda y tamizado de los cladodios de Opuntia. 2. Estudiar la incidencia del pH del medio en la efectividad del proceso de bioadsorción. 3. Investigar el efecto que ejerce la protonación del material bioadsorbente, la concentración inicial de Cd(II) en la disolución y la dosis de bioadsorbente, sobre la capacidad de extracción del mismo. 4. Obtener la capacidad de bioadsorción y porcentajes de eliminación de Cd(II) de los diferentes ensayos propuestos. 5. Determinar las condiciones óptimas del proceso de bioadsorción de Cd(II) por biomasa (cladodios) de Opuntia. 6. Estudiar la cinética del proceso y su modelización en base a los modelos más usuales reportados por otros autores. 7. Ajustar los resultados obtenidos a diversas isotermas de adsorción propuestas con objeto de la mejor comprensión de los fundamentos del proceso.
