Abstract

[ENG]This work studies the properties of concrete and mortar with ground granulated blast-furnace slags as binary blended cement. The main topics are: compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, resistance against ion chloride attack and carbonation. The influences of other cementitious materials have been taken into account. Ternary blended cements have been studied in this work. The key properties that influence in the durability of concrete and mortar are studied. At the last decades, some factors have been pave the way to the research and development of new products that help the environmental issues, such as: the use of by-product in construction, the re-use of materials; the need to control CO2 emission to the atmosphere in the manufacturing processes, the grow of population in the world, increasing the demand of the raw material and the implementation of changes in the legislation. The variability of the results related to properties and behavior of the concrete and mortar with GGBS is due to the differences of ground granulated blast-furnace slag's chemical composition: the waterreducing admixture, the dosage, the air entraining agents, alkaline activators and the environmental conditions, just like, the influence of other cementitious materials as replacement for blended cements with GGBS. A specific study case by case is highly recommended because of the deviation of the obtained data.
