Abstract

[ENG] Selling dreams. At the beginning of 20th century Cartagena lacked hygienic dwelling and had an Expansion Plan which was not being developed properly according to prospects. One of the reasons of the delay was due to the fear of building on swampy lands where the expansion was supposed to take place. The Town Council decides to boost the expansion through the construction project of two suburban areas with the total amount of 1500 dwellings. That Project comprised a great variety of types of homes. The sale of these houses was supported by an accurate advertising campaign. The building society made an exhibition of the dwellings including models and abundant graphic documents. This event reveals the deliberate using of architectonical drawing and modeling as instruments of spreading and support to the social housing promotion policy. This paper expounds the features of graphic expression used at the advertising of the Working-class Houses of Cartagena.
